Making Man Whole

Loma Linda’s sole mission is to “Make man Whole”. this is a vision that can not be accomplished without Jesus Christ. Scripture challenges us to seek justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God, and i have found an educational experience that incorporates all of His expectations and decrees and none of the flesh. my first day of classes was today. orientation was yesterday. i am slowly beginning to discover that i  am one of the youngest people in my class with possibly the least amount of real world experience. many of my classmates were already working in public health before i even knew it existed. but it’s ok. there’s a saying that goes “if you’re the smartest of your friends, then you need new friends”, so i’ll look to my friends for knowledge and take advantage of the fact that they are more learned in the field that i am. so far so good. i am getting used to the commute, although finding a parking on campus sometime proves to be longer the commute itself. it’s different being a commuter. it’s different…

the journey begins…

on tuesday, september 4th, i found out i got into Loma Linda University School of Public Health. i will start my first day of school on september 4th with a major in global health and specialization in global epidemiology. i am excited, not only because after spending 10 years infatuated with medicine, i am finally stepping into my purpose, but also because i know this is the beginning of a journey i have waited for all my life. i look forward to living in  the IE, experiencing the rich culture of Los Angeles, growing in my faith, meeting new people and learning how to impact lives. My acceptance letter reads this:

Included in the didactic units is the GLBH 545 Integrated Community Development course, which requires travel outside of the United States. Each student in Global Health is, therefore, required to hold a current valid passport (Please note that passport expiration dates must extend to at least six months beyond the return date of your trip).

let the travels begin….
